This is the friendliest looking tiger in all the world.  This is why we award our coveted Employee of the Month to this happy Golden Retriever painted to look like a tiger!

The Dahe Pet Civilization Park in Zhengzhou has a total winner with Tiger Dog.  In addition to this living work of art, they have other painted pets that will enthrall the Chinese People wishing to touch something dangerous and still retain all their digits!  RRRRRooowwwwwoooof!

May 2010, Hannah Altman

without comments

Our May Winner: Hannah Altman!

Hannah Altman is 9 years old and is the CEO of her own growing empire.

This Tyke-oon sells Hanna’s Cool World stuff with an eye towards what’s hot.  How do we know she’s the visionary she says she is?  Her sales of over 250,000 pencil toppers put her in the top percentile of young Entrepreneurs who have fun while building a brand.

Most other kids are planning their summer of getting into mischief, so we applaud Hannah and wish her well as she signs out of her welcome message by saying “peace out!”

April, 2010, Kevin Costner

without comments

Our April Winner: Kevin Costner!

Kevin Costner started working on his Oil Spill Cleaner Upper back in 1989 after the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill.

We award Kevin, his brother the scientist Dan Costner and his partner John Houghtaling, for creating Ocean Therapy. Basically it’s a giant vacuum cleaner that sucks up huge amounts of oily water, does some centrifugal magic and spits out clean ocean water.

We applaud his forward thinking and hope this helps the people of the Gulf!

March, 2010, Stool Bus

Our March Winner: The Stool Bus Creator!

Lussier and Sons Septic Service Stool Bus SAYS IT ALL. Whoever had a sense of humor in this company deserves a raise! With these eye catching trucks, rolling around Clinton, Connecticut and nearby locations, we think this truck should go to Washington DC from time to time and perform it’s magic!

This photo has found it’s way into e mails, on websites and on google search. But they are a real company with real service men and women who drive around and give smiles to everyone who sees their rolling ‘s%*ttruck’ and saves people 24/7, rain or shine, sleet or hail. All hail to the Stool Bus! Nice one.

This brilliant songstress gets our Employee of the Month because she rocked the Grammy’s!

She became the first female-artist to receive 6 Grammy’s in one night … a brand new record!

She won 6 out of the 10 nominations, including Song of the Year for her recording “Single Ladies, (Put a Ring on It!)”

January, 2010, Dean Millien

dean MillienOur January Winner: Dean Millien!

Millien’s developmental disability has not stopped his life long dream of being an honored and supported artisan! Thanks to J. Crew on Madison Avenue, Dean’s magical metallic tin foil animals are seen by thousands who smile at the whimsical creatures created by Millien’s fertile imagination!

It’s takes Millien about a half-hour to create one of his creations. He fashions kangaroos to ducks to dogs in the animal realm and has even sculpted the Manhattan skyline and city bridges. Animals, he declares, are his favorite. His preferred medium? Well, any garden-variety aluminum foil delights him!

We not only salute the winner, Dean, but the folks at J. Crew for seeing talent and supporting sensitive souls who sometimes create to the tune of a different drummer! Bravo Dean!

December, 2009, Christmas Charity

without comments

Our December Winner: John and Lee!

Lee Warren and his buddy John, chose another year of charity rather than purchasing dopey Christmas presents! We honor him and his buddies for getting 15 turkeys and, as he puts it, “a whole lot more” for the homeless shelter he chose to help this year! He mentions in his blog that the company his friend works for is going to do that next year. I think if we all stop giving silly Secret Santa gifts to co-workers and pool our money like Lee and John and Bob did, we could ease the pain during the holidays, especially for those less employed than some of us are! CHEERS to you guys! We’ll look forward to your story next year!

November, 2009, Mr. Toskana

Our November Winner: Mr. Toskana Divorce Sale

When Mr. Toskana of San Francisco got taken to the cleaners by his lovely soon-to-be ex-bride, he made this sign famous and got the sympathy of many passers-by. We tried to get in touch with him to see how he’s doing, but it seems that he may have moved his wares to e-bay. “Mr. Toskana has had an expensive divorce and now needs the money, so sale on now!” is the war cry of many divorce-weary men who admire Mr. Toskana and his use of honesty to get customers and sell out his store! Toskana, on google, is no longer the german word for Tuscany! Congratulations, Mr. Toskana and thank you for all the smiles you’ve given us!

October, 2009

Our October Winner: The Employee who made zebras out of donkeys!

Gaza strip zoo has replaced it’s zebras with painted donkeys! We give the employee, Ahmad Barghouti, mad props for organizing this incredibly creative idea so that children would be able to see zebras in the Marah Land Zoo. Unfortunately, the 2 Zebras that once thrived there, died of starvation during the Israel-Hamas war. Mr. Barghouti said that a professional painter used imported French women’s hair dye to create a beautiful exotic beast out of an ordinary donkey.

The Zonkeys got buzz cuts and after trial and error with henna dye that rubbed off and other paints that wouldn’t be healthy for the animals, a painter used masking tape to create the lines. In war torn Gaza, this Zoo is near a refugee camp and often the only entertainment and respite from strife and hardship. We salute the zookeepers who definitely made more with less!

April – September 2009 Winner

Our April through September Winner: Astrid Thoening

We’re sure you’ve never heard of Ms. Thoening, but she turned 100 years old … on the job! She works at the Thornton Agency, a family owned business, in New Jersey. Her desk was filled with chocolates, flowers, goodies and many of the SAME birthday card that said “Happy 100th.” (There aren’t that many choices for cards celebrating 100th birthdays!) Her tip? “I don’t feel old and I don’t think old.” We salute her and celebrate her entrance into the three-five-o club (the third 50 years!)
